Diet

Diet

Definition:

This usually relates to physical sustenance, although there is such a thing as spiritual sustenance.  Food consumption is a purely personal matter and a diet suitable for one may be wrong for another.  This being so it is unwise to induce anyone to adhere to a particular dietary pattern, except in cases where it is conducive to the effecting of a cure for someone in ill-health.  It is true that vegetarianism can be helpful for those seeking spirituality, but many vegetarians are atheists.  Some vegetarians tend towards apathy and inertia, though a few, recognizing this, do counteract it – thereby benefiting from their diet.  The benefits of any form of dieting lie more in its disciplinary effects than in its actual physical effects.  Care must be taken not to condition the body to the acceptance of only a limited range of food, thereby prejudicing its chances of survival under very rigorous circumstances.
