Primitivism

Primitivism

Definition:

This is a state induced by modifications to the limbic or primitive part of the brain. Several factors can cause such modifications, the most common being indulgence in certain drugs. The effect is a psychological state wherein a primitive lifestyle, divorced from primitive privations, disciplines and struggles, becomes obsessively attractive. There is then a tendency to ‘opt out’ of a more virile lifestyle. Primitivism is not to be confused with a healthy tendency towards a more natural way of life and a repudiation of a lifestyle oriented solely towards comfort and convenience. It is not easy to distinguish between the two, particularly if personally concerned in the assessment.
