Tarot Cards
Ancestor of our modern playing cards. Originally intended as a picture book of instruction in occultism. Today they are used only for cartomancy. The word ‘tarot’ was devised from the Latin word ‘rota’ (wheel) by transposing the syllables ‘rota’ and adding an extra ‘t’ is a blind. The arcane version of the Tarot has been in use in some Ancient Mystery Schools since the end of the tenth century.
